Biography
A glance
from Alaior
Tobal Esbert was born in Alaior, Menorca, in 1945. His photographs capture scenes from across the island: sunrises and sunsets, the port of Maó throughout the year, the coastline, lighthouses and villages.
His work combines intense colour with black and white. Some of his images are noted for their rich colour palette; others for the contrast between light and shadow.
In recent years, he has taken photography into a dialogue with the written word: in Poetycum (2022), alongside Damià Coll, and in The meaning of words (2025), both at the Convent of Sant Diego in Alaior, the image and the text complement one another.
This digital museum, part of Kairoi Art, brings together his work in four collections so that you can explore it from anywhere.
